Our general dentistry services will give you the foundation for any cosmetic work you would like to have. No smile can be beautiful for very long if dental health is not robust, and the way to keep your dental health robust is:

• Effective daily brushing and flossing (more than once if necessary)
• Regular professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar
• Regular visits to check on your dental health and catch problems early

Once gum disease gets a foothold, it can be quite difficult to reverse, as it develops into a vicious circle – neglect allows bacteria to multiply and spread, more bacteria cause pockets between teeth and gums to enlarge, giving access below the gumline, more decay then occurs, creating more space inside teeth, gums, even the jawbone for more bacteria, which then can thrive and multiply … and so it goes.

Dental Restorations

All of that can be easily prevented by good daily care and preventive general dentistry. If you do have some decay and need a filling, we are well-trained and well-equipped to give you pleasing tooth-colored fillings, using either porcelain or white composite resin.

If you need a dental crown, you need only come for one visit instead of the usual two, since our office has CEREC technology. Please see CEREC Dental Crowns for more information about that. If you have any missing teeth, it is important, both aesthetically and for your dental health, to fill the gaps as soon as possible. We offer dentures and dental bridges for that purpose. We also offer dental implants, which are artificial tooth roots that fill the invisible gap in the jawbone, where the tooth root used to be. They anchor replacement teeth and can anchor a bridge, an arch of teeth, and even an entire mouthful of new teeth. The number of implants would depend on how many teeth need replacing.

Preventive Measures

Modern dentistry has developed some effective ways to detect problems much earlier than used to be possible.

• When you come for your check-up, we can do an oral cancer screening that will pick up early abnormalities that are invisible to the naked eye.
• A dental sealant can be applied as a barrier on your teeth that blocks bacterial acid excretions from damaging the enamel.
• DIAGNOdent is an efficient tool that detects early decay by shining a special laser on your teeth. Healthy teeth will reflect the light back and register a lower number on the system’s readout.
• We of course do X-rays for problem detection and we use digital X-rays which expose you to far less radiation.
