What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It enables us to restore damaged teeth quickly and economically. Dental porcelain is a durable ceramic material that comes in many shades and we would choose one to match your natural teeth. When you have custom-crafted porcelain fillings you no longer need be embarrassed by the negative features of amalgam fillings – the dark gray color and the eventual tooth discoloration and fractures.

How Does CEREC Technology Work?

We use a special camera to take a photo of the tooth. It gives us a razor-sharp optical impression to work from. Then:

• Using the CEREC Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology we design your dental crown.
• We use the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technology to create a very precise crown. The CEREC system has a high-speed diamond burr and simultaneously uses a disk to mill the restoration from a solid block of dental porcelain.
• We bond the newly-milled dental crown to your tooth using state-of-the-art dental adhesive.

The CEREC system offers benefits both to you as the patient and to us as the cosmetic dentists using it. Your cosmetic dentistry procedure is much quicker, more customized, and more precise. We can use CEREC technology for porcelain crowns, veneers, and tooth-colored fillings.
